Taylor Halethorpe, a once-renowned writer from a prestigious Maryland family, is teetering on the edge of obscurity. A decade after her breakout bestseller, her career has stagnated, her finances are dwindling, and she numbs herself with harmful relationships, copious amounts of wine, and other distracting vices. Her only refuge is what remains of The Halethorpe Estate, a family relic left to her by her late mother and funded by the last of her inheritance.
The Estate, built in 1833, was once a pinnacle of glamour and allure in the small town of Halethorpe. Its grand ballroom was vast enough to contain all the secrets and mysteries that unfolded within the walls of the enchanting mansion.
Desperate to reclaim her literary brilliance, Taylor struggles to find inspiration while living in the decaying mansion, where the wallpaper is fading, the plaster is falling from slat walls, and the radiators scream like sirens. It seems little magic remains from the sprawling estate’s glory days, even for the last Halethorpe.
But perhaps… there is just enough.
